Around the time Edward Aster identified the need for a publication dedicated to chromatography, HI Scientific Services Inc. was founded, but the evolution of the company began long before that time. Two friends from a small town in western Pennsylvania would dream of someday owning a business. Friends through elementary school, Boy Scouts, and through high school they made a pact to include the other if the opportunity ever arose to pursue their dream... After several years of education, work experience, and Air Force duty, it was time for these two friends to team up.
Determined to provide service that would reflect the values instilled from that small town, HI Scientific Services opened its tool bags for business in 1983. Initially providing third-party service on Waters HPLC instruments, HI Scientific Services gradually expanded over the years to encompass service on all major brands of HPLC instrumentation. With laboratory regulatory changes brewing, in 1997 came the development of our performance verification procedures for instrument qualification.
We did not plan to, nor have we become, the major industry leader in the HPLC Service or performance verification industry, and we do not expect to in the next 25 years. These two friends do however plan to continue to offer the best quality services at a reasonable price, while treating our customers and employees with old-fashioned small-town values.
Thank you to all of our past and present customers for making us such a great success!
Congratulations to LCGC North America on your 25th anniversary. We look forward to being a part of your informative publication for years to come.

Using LC-MS/MS to Measure Testosterone in Dried Blood Spots
December 19th 2024Testosterone measurements are typically performed using serum or plasma, but this presents several logistical challenges, especially for sample collection, storage, and transport. In a recently published article, Yehudah Gruenstein of the University of Miami explored key insights gained from dried blood spot assay validation for testosterone measurement.
