Researchers from Zhejiang Province Environmental Monitoring Centre (Zhejiang, China) and Xiangtan University (Hunan, China) developed an ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC–MS-MS) method for analyzing alkylphenols in soil. They used pressurized liquid extraction followed by solid-phase extraction to prepare the samples for the final analysis. They used a 50 mm x 2.1 mm, 1.7-µm C18 column with gradient elution, a water–acetonitrile mobile phase, and electrospray ionization tandem MS in negative ion mode with multiple reaction monitoring to analyze the extracted alkylphenols.

Using LC-MS/MS to Measure Testosterone in Dried Blood Spots
December 19th 2024Testosterone measurements are typically performed using serum or plasma, but this presents several logistical challenges, especially for sample collection, storage, and transport. In a recently published article, Yehudah Gruenstein of the University of Miami explored key insights gained from dried blood spot assay validation for testosterone measurement.
