The Zetasizer ?V is a dual capability light scattering system that can be added to any protein SEC system to measure absolute molecular size and molecular weight in real time.
The Zetasizer µV is a dual capability light scattering system that measures both size and molecular weight, with particular value for protein characterization as an SEC detector. As part of Malvern Instruments’ detector range for gel permeation/size exclusion chromatography (GPC/SEC), it can be added to any system to boost experimental productivity by maximizing information flow from a single experiment.
Complementary to Malvern’s established Viscotek range, which includes high sensitivity light scattering, viscometer and refractive index detectors, the Zetasizer µV uses Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) to secure precise molecular size measurement while at the same time offering static light scattering for absolute molecular weight measurement. It can be added to any protein SEC system using standard chromatography tubing to bring absolute molecular size and molecular weight capability to the chromatography experiment, avoiding the need for column calibration.
As well as being a powerful SEC-DLS detector, the Zetasizer µV can be used as an ultra-sensitive batch instrument for cuvette-based size and molecular weight measurements. By combining the highest sensitivity, a minimum 2μL volume requirement with high precision rapid temperature control the Zetasizer µV provides fast, accurate and absolute results.
The brochure on the Malvern website describes both SEC and batch DLS use.

Using LC-MS/MS to Measure Testosterone in Dried Blood Spots
December 19th 2024Testosterone measurements are typically performed using serum or plasma, but this presents several logistical challenges, especially for sample collection, storage, and transport. In a recently published article, Yehudah Gruenstein of the University of Miami explored key insights gained from dried blood spot assay validation for testosterone measurement.
