The
40th International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC)
and the
13th GC×GC Symposium
will once again be held in
Riva del Garda, Italy
, from
29 May
to
3 June 2016
. The meeting will focus on recent advances in the fields of pressure and electrodriven microcolumn separations, and comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (2D GC). Particular emphasis will be placed on combining capillary chromatography with various forms of mass spectrometry (MS) - from unit-mass to highâresolution and from single to hybrid analyzers. The
ISCC/GC×GC
scientific programme will be a rich one, characterized by contributions from leading scientists reporting on the latest most exciting developments; keynote lectures from promising young researchers; active poster sessions; discussion sessions; workshop seminars presenting the most recent novelties in scientific instrumentation; and a world-class GC×GC course. Researchers in all areas relevant to the subjects of the symposia are invited to submit abstracts. As is traditional for the Riva meetings, the majority of presentations will be in a poster format and the Scientific Committee will select contributions for oral presentations. As always, many awards will be presented at both the ISCC and GC×GC events, recognizing excellence in both established and young scientists, in oral and poster presentations. Exhibitors and sponsors remain a fundamental part of the meeting and the organisers nvite companies to participate by reserving booth space and becoming a sponsor. Last but not least, the traditional “Riva” social programme will return with one or two events each day: Cocktails, welcome reception, concert, wine and cheese evening, and of course, the disco night! Young Scientists and Researchers Environmental and Food Analysis SIG Meeting
The
Young Scientists and Researchers Environmental and Food Analysis SIG Meeting
will be held on the
28 October 2015
at
The Auditorium, BAT Research & Development, Southampton, UK
. The aim of this one-day meeting is to highlight and focus on the research and innovation of young graduate scientists and researchers in areas relating to the applications of chromatography–mass spectrometry to environmental and food matrix analysis. The meeting is open to all organizations and institutions with interests in environmental and food mass spectrometry using chromatography and mass spectrometry across the spectrum of instrumentation. Please note that although the focus is on the activities of young scientists, presentation submissions are welcome from experienced scientists working in similar areas, so that there is a blend of the established with the new. It is hoped that invited keynote speakers to the sessions will be representative of both groups. Confirmed Postgraduate and Young Scientist Speakers include: Ms Sally Gamble, Department of Security and Crime Science, University College London, UK; Dr Benjamin Savareear, University of Liege, Belgium; Aneela Arshad, Polymer Science, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK; Kate Sidwick, Keele University, UK; Russel Cole, University of Portsmouth, UK; and Glenn Castle, University of Portsmouth, UK. The organizers would appreciate your support and attendance. Website:

SPME GC-MS–Based Metabolomics to Determine Metabolite Profiles of Coffee
November 14th 2024Using a solid phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME GC-MS)-based metabolomics approach, a recent study by the School of Life Sciences and Technology at Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia) investigated the impact of environmental factors (including temperature, rainfall, and altitude) on volatile metabolite profiles of Robusta green coffee beans from West Java.
RP-HPLC Analysis of Polyphenols and Antioxidants in Dark Chocolate
November 13th 2024A recent study set out to assess the significance of geographical and varietal factors in the content of alkaloids, phenolic compounds, and the antioxidant capacity of chocolate samples. Filtered extracts were analyzed by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) with ultraviolet (UV) and spectrophotometric methods to determine individual phenolics and overall indexes of antioxidant and flavonoid content.
AI and GenAI Applications to Help Optimize Purification and Yield of Antibodies From Plasma
October 31st 2024Deriving antibodies from plasma products involves several steps, typically starting from the collection of plasma and ending with the purification of the desired antibodies. These are: plasma collection; plasma pooling; fractionation; antibody purification; concentration and formulation; quality control; and packaging and storage. This process results in a purified antibody product that can be used for therapeutic purposes, diagnostic tests, or research. Each step is critical to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of the final product. Applications of AI/GenAI in many of these steps can significantly help in the optimization of purification and yield of the desired antibodies. Some specific use-cases are: selecting and optimizing plasma units for optimized plasma pooling; GenAI solution for enterprise search on internal knowledge portal; analysing and optimizing production batch profitability, inventory, yields; monitoring production batch key performance indicators for outlier identification; monitoring production equipment to predict maintenance events; and reducing quality control laboratory testing turnaround time.
