Arablab 2009 will take place from 10–13 January 2009 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Middle Eastern and Asian infrastructure is developing rapidly and the resultant high levels of new and refurbished medical laboratories and clinical research facilities throughout the region are evident. Laboratory projects involving mainsteam sectors, such as petrochemicals, environment, health and education and industry are also springing up in China, the Indian sub-continent and throughout South East Asia.
Arablab 2009 is the largest technology show serving the Middle East and Africa. It provides a unique research source focusing on biotechnology; analytical instrumentation; laboratory technology; robotics and automation; environmental sciences; measuring and testing and nanotechnology. The event divides itself into five sectors:
Medilab, a buying source for effective medical research; Petrolab for the petrochemical sector; Envirolab for the analysis of environmental pollution; Nanolab, which focuses on nanotechnologyl and Biolab, which is aimed at the biotechnology sector.
Under the patronage of Dubiotech,The Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park, launched in February 2005, is the region's first and foremost science and business park dedicated entirely to the global life science industry. DuBiotech aims to be the central hub for all life science industries for the Middle East. It offers a vibrant environment for key players of the bioindustries to thrive within their sphere of activity.
A central focus of DuBiotech is research, and to support the drive toward setting a park dedicated to research excellence through its Foundation for Research and Innovation (FRI) focusing on medical, industrial, environmental and agricultural biotechnology. DuBiotech is governed by world class regulations in line with those applied to the top life science clusters globally and best international practices.
The UAE Ministry of Health has also been a close partner to further enhance life science regulations at the federal level. Intellectual property (IP) protection is at the core of the life science industry. Considering the sensitive nature of work done within this industry, DuBiotech attaches considerable importance to Intellectual Property issues, As such, by working closely with the industry, federal authorities and world IP bodies, DuBiotech will ensure that existing IP laws and regulations are strictly enforced.
As part of TECOM's corporate social responsibility, all DuBiotech's buildings are to be classified as LEED-certified "Green" buildings. The extends not only to the headquarters and laboratory complexes, but also to the manufacturing and community services buildings that will be part of the park.
