The 5th International Workshop on Per- and Polyfluorinated Alkyl Substances — PFAS: Fluorinated Compounds in Materials, Humans, and the Environment — Current Knowledge and Scientific Gaps will take place on 27–29 October 2013 in Helsingør/Copenhagen, Denmark. A number of special guests have been invited to speak at the event, including:
Helsingør is a beautiful city overlooking the sea to Sweden, and has a variety of historic buildings including the castle of "Hamlet", modern art, and naval museums, as well as good dining and outdoor activities. Helsingør is easily accessible by the "Øresund" train, from the Copenhagen central train station and Copenhagen/Kastrup airport.
The deadline for registration is 31 August 2013; the deadline for poster submissions is 30 September 2013. Awards will be given for the top three posters. For further information, please visit www.nordfluor-workshop-2013.dk or contact the secretary Line L. Barnkob at lluba@food.dtu.dk
The 3rd European GC×GC Symposium will take place on 17–18 September 2013 at Parc Valrose, University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, Nice, France. The symposium will explore comprehensive chromatography (GC×GC) and mass spectrometry (MS).
The programme is based on presentations from leading industry and academic experts. This forum provides the ideal opportunity for sharing their expertise and knowledge along with their application of GC×GC to solve today's challenging applications. The two-day scientific programme includes the following themed sessions:
The 3rd European GC×GC Symposium is dedicated to continuing the style and welcoming atmosphere of previous meetings. A detailed scientific programme along with speaker biographies and abstracts are all available on-line (www.events-GC×GC.eu ). In addition, poster session abstracts are also available on-line to read in advance. For all further information (location, directions, and hotel accommodation options) visit the conference website that is continuously updated with the latest details.

November 20th 2024In this edition of “Inside the Laboratory,” Susan Richardson of the University of South Carolina discusses her laboratory’s work with using electron ionization and chemical ionization with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) to detect DBPs in complex environmental matrices, and how her work advances environmental analysis.
AI and GenAI Applications to Help Optimize Purification and Yield of Antibodies From Plasma
October 31st 2024Deriving antibodies from plasma products involves several steps, typically starting from the collection of plasma and ending with the purification of the desired antibodies. These are: plasma collection; plasma pooling; fractionation; antibody purification; concentration and formulation; quality control; and packaging and storage. This process results in a purified antibody product that can be used for therapeutic purposes, diagnostic tests, or research. Each step is critical to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of the final product. Applications of AI/GenAI in many of these steps can significantly help in the optimization of purification and yield of the desired antibodies. Some specific use-cases are: selecting and optimizing plasma units for optimized plasma pooling; GenAI solution for enterprise search on internal knowledge portal; analysing and optimizing production batch profitability, inventory, yields; monitoring production batch key performance indicators for outlier identification; monitoring production equipment to predict maintenance events; and reducing quality control laboratory testing turnaround time.
