Phenomenex, Inc. (Torrance, California), a leader in the chromatography and separation sciences business, has been named to Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 Program for Los Angeles. The Fast 50 is a ranking of the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, and life sciences companies in the area by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, one of the nation’s leading professional services organizations. Rankings are based on the percentage revenue growth over five years from 2002–2006.
“Amongst the 50 winners, there were only four companies that were under the heading ‘Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical,’ two of which were Amgen and Phenomenex, and ninety percent of the rest were young, nimble, Internet-related, or software-based entrepreneurs,” says Fasha Mahjoor, CEO of Phenomenex. “Phenomenex is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, so we consider our ranking among these innovative, hard charging, technology-driven companies to be quite a feat, and we are proud to share the honor.”
“Deloitte’s Los Angeles Technology Fast 50 companies have shown the strength, vision and tenacity to succeed in today’s very competitive technology environment,” says Tony Buzzelli, Vice Chairman and Regional Managing Partner, Pacific Southwest Region, Deloitte & Touche LLP. “We applaud the successes of Phenomenex and acknowledge it as one of the very few to accomplish such a fast growth rate over the past five years.”
Fasha Mahjoor, CEO of Phenomenex, credits “a constant focus on innovation” with the company's 93.5 percent organic revenue growth from 2002–2006, which earned the Company’s ranking of 44.
Mahjoor says, “This award, combined with the recent announcement that we’ve won R&D Magazine’s R&D 100 two years in a row, demonstrates how well-placed investments in research, new product development and human capital, along with carefully nurturing a unique, service driven culture, have cast our reputation as an innovator and helped us seize the leadership role we have today.”
Companies from the 16 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America’s top 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies.
