Session 1 10:00 AM SGT: Optimizing Sample Prep for Bioanalysis: Essential Techniques for Developing Robust Bioanalytical Methods (Session 1)

Session 2: 11:00 AM CEST: Optimizing Sample Prep for Bioanalysis: Essential Techniques for Developing Robust Bioanalytical Methods (Session 2)

Session 3: 2:00 PM EDT: Optimizing Sample Prep for Bioanalysis: Essential Techniques for Developing Robust Bioanalytical Methods (Session 3)

Event Overview:

Bioanalysis is an important part of the overall drug development journey, starting with late discovery/early development absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) and drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) testing through clinical studies. Developing robust bioanalytical methods can be challenging due to the complexity of sample matrices and analyte chemistries. Effective sample preparation methodologies are pivotal for minimizing matrix effects, enhancing analyte recovery, and ensuring the accuracy of quantitative measurements in pharmacokinetic and biomarker studies. Employing the right sample prep strategy and technique can greatly impact your ability to achieve better results faster, with greater sensitivity and at lower cost. This webinar will review the fundamentals of common sample prep techniques, such as protein precipitation, liquid-liquid and supported liquid extraction, and solid-phase extraction, breaking down their mechanisms of action and highlighting strategies for choosing the best technique to use in bioanalysis.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how to develop and validate a robust and successful analytical method
  • Understand common sample prep techniques, how they work, and how to select the right technique for your analysis
  • Learn how to optimize and streamline sample prep for bioanalysis

Who Should Attend:

  • Analytical scientists developing LC-MS bioanalytical methods for ADME and DMPK testing
  • Analytical scientists developing LC-MS bioanalytical methods for clinical studies
  • Bioanalytical lab managers looking to improve results and laboratory efficiency

Speakers:

Lee Williams, PhD
Director of Analytical Product and Applications Development
Biotage

Lee Williams earned his PhD in mass spectrometry from the University of Wales, Swansea, and completed a postdoctorate degree in the biochemical toxicology department at the National Center for Toxicological Research, US Food and Drug Administration labs. Williams joined Biotage (formerly Argonaut) to advance the LC/MS capability within the sample preparation arena. Over the past 18 years he has occupied a variety of roles, including senior scientist, group leader, lab manager and, most recently, director of R&D for analytical consumables and applications.

Yuan Li, PhD
Senior Scientist and Laboratory Manager
Biotage

Yuan Li earned her PhD in biochemistry from the City University of Hong Kong. Before joining Biotage, she was an assistant professor at the UNC Nutrition Research Institute in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where she managed the metabolomics and exposome lab and oversaw the development of untargeted metabolomics workflows for metabolic syndromes investigations and supporting National Institutes of Health–funded epidemiology studies. She has over 15 years of experience, with strong analytical chemistry expertise in exposomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics.
