Researchers from the University of Veterinary Medicine and University of Vienna (Vienna, Austria) developed a selective method for analyzing a compound in corn, deoxynivalenol, based on immuno-ultrafiltration. In the immuno-ultrafiltration method, antibodies are used in free form rather than bound to a solid support material. The method was found to be as selective as clean-up methods that use immunoaffinity columns. The compound was quantified using high performance liquid chromatography with UV detection.
