Webinar Date/Time: Thu, Feb 23, 2023 11:00 AM EST

This webinar will demonstrate the simultaneous analysis of Alternaria toxins, ergot alkaloid epimers, and other major mycotoxins using a simple sample preparation procedure and a Raptor Biphenyl column run under acidic conditions. Use of this Raptor Biphenyl-based, multi-mycotoxin method provides food safety labs with the means to significantly improve productivity compared to using separate methods for different mycotoxin panels.

Event Overview:

As more mycotoxins come under regulatory purview, new methods are needed to help food safety labs continue to operate efficiently. Comprehensive, multi-mycotoxin methods are an attractive alternative to separate methods for different analyte lists, but they can be difficult to develop due to the wide range of chemical characteristics among mycotoxin classes. In this webinar, the simultaneous analysis of Alternaria toxins, ergot alkaloid epimers, and other major mycotoxins will be shown using a simple sample preparation procedure and a Raptor Biphenyl column run under acidic conditions. Under these column- and MS-friendly conditions, accurate quantitative results were obtained in a fast, 11-minute total cycle time run for 37 regulated and emerging mycotoxins. This includes the Alternaria toxins and all six essential ergot alkaloids and their epimers. Details of note:

  • The established workflow was simple and fast for multi-mycotoxin determination in a wide variety of food commodities with limits of quantification needed to meet the regulatory levels.
  • This study provides a unique solution to include Alternaria toxins and ergot alkaloids for multi-mycotoxin analysis without the implementation of high pH chromatographic condition.
  • Lab productivity can be increased by analyzing emerging mycotoxins using the same method as priority regulated mycotoxins.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how to increase lab productivity by consolidating mycotoxin analyses.
  • There is no separate run under high pH conditions; the Raptor Biphenyl column allows quantitative analysis of all groups under MS-friendly, acidic conditions.
  • Identify simple, universal sample prep to save time without requiring further purification procedures.

Who Should Attend:

  • Method development specialists, research chemists, and operation scientists in global food analytical labs.
