The staff of LCGC handed out two awards on Monday afternoon during a press conference on the second day of Pittcon 2009 in Chicago.
Picking up the awards were Kevin Schug of University of Texas at Arlington, College Station, Texas, and Harold McNair of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. Schug received the Emerging Leader Award while McNair took home the Lifetime Achievement Award. This was the second annual awards presented by LCGC.
After brief opening remarks by LCGC Editor-in-Chief David Walsh, each of the award winners were presented by colleagues in their respective fields. LCGC Columnist Ron Majors, Agilent Technologies, presented the award to McNair while Robert Classon of Shimadzu gave the award to Schug.
Last year’s awards went to Walt Jennings (Lifetime Achievement Award) of J&W Scientific and Gert Desmet (Emerging Leader) of the Free University of Brussels.
LCGC will continue to hand out the awards next year at Pittcon 2010 in Orlando, Florida.
