Tosoh Product Profile
Tosoh Bioscience presents a new brochure featuring the use of TSKgel columns for SEC with aqueous mobile phases, also known as gel filtration chromatography (GFC). The brochure comprises all aspects of SEC, starting with the fundamentals of SEC, characteristics of TSKgel SEC columns, and application examples for the different column types:
Silica based TSKgel SW columns are the industry’s standard for the separation of proteins by aqueous SEC. TSKgel SuperSW columns have smaller diameters and are filled with smaller particles. Providing both, high sensitivity and high resolution, they are ideally suited for the QC of low dose biopharmaceuticals.
The brochure also features the latest additions to the polymer based SEC columns, such as the TSKgel PWXL-CP columns for the analysis of cationic polymers and the TSKgel SuperMultiporePW linear SEC columns, deigned to determine the size distribution of water soluble polymers, such as polyvinylpyrrolidones or dextrans.
The brochure supports users in selecting the appropriate column and gaining the best SEC performance.
Extracting Estrogenic Hormones Using Rotating Disk and Modified Clays
April 14th 2025University of Caldas and University of Chile researchers extracted estrogenic hormones from wastewater samples using rotating disk sorption extraction. After extraction, the concentrated analytes were measured using liquid chromatography coupled with photodiode array detection (HPLC-PDA).
Profiling Terpenoids in Cannabis with GC×GC-MS
April 14th 2025A joint study conducted by the University of Ferrara (Italy) and the Council for Agricultural Research and Economics (Rome, Italy) focused on the analysis of terpenes and terpenoids—key bioactive compounds responsible for the distinctive flavor and potential therapeutic effects of cannabis. For this study, the research team used comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC×GC-MS) coupled with dynamic headspace extraction (DHS) to profile these compounds in cannabis inflorescences. LCGC International spoke to Flavio A. Franchina of the University of Ferrara, corresponding author of the paper which resulted from this study, about their research.
