AB SCIEX has announced that the company has expanded its commercial operations in Korea. The company created a new direct sales organization under AB SCIEX Korea to help customers located in Korea advance drug discovery, biomedical science, food and environmental safety testing, forensics and clinical research through the use of mass spectrometry technologies.
“AB SCIEX has a commitment to invest for long-term growth in emerging markets, such as Korea,” said Vince Gao, senior director, APAC sales, support and customer service, AB SCIEX. “The expansion of our commercial team elevates our presence in Korea and positions us to better serve our Korean customers. With the integration of the sales, service and support functions into AB SCIEX Korea, we will be able to make faster decisions and simplify the purchase process, so our customers can focus on achieving their goals.”
This expansion was made possible by an agreement with Life Science Korea (LSK) to transfer existing sales, service and marketing personnel to AB SCIEX, effective immediately. LSK was formerly the company’s official dealer in Korea; but by shifting from indirect to direct sales, the company intends to enhance customer support and collaborations by providing one point of contact for pre-sale demonstrations, purchase, installation, application support and service.

The Complexity of Oligonucleotide Separations
January 9th 2025Peter Pellegrinelli, Applications Specialist at Advanced Materials Technology (AMT) explains the complexity of oligonucleotide separations due to the unique chemical properties of these molecules. Issues such as varying length, sequence complexity, and hydrophilic-hydrophobic characteristics make efficient separations difficult. Separation scientists are addressing these challenges by modifying mobile phase compositions, using varying ion-pairing reagents, and exploring alternative separation modes like HILIC and ion-exchange chromatography. Due to these complexities, AMT has introduced the HALO® OLIGO column, which offers high-resolution, fast separations through its innovative Fused-Core® technology and high pH stability. Alongside explaining the new column, Peter looks to the future of these separations and what is next to come.
Metabolomics Analysis of Low Birth-Weight Infants Using UHPLC-MS/MS Following Lipid Emulsion
January 10th 2025A recent study aimed to directly compare the changes in serum metabolites among very low birth-rate (VLBW) infants following the administration of the soybean oil-based lipid emulsion and soybean oil, medium-chain triglycerides, olive oil, and fish oil (SMOF) lipid emulsion using untargeted metabolomics techniques.
