The 24th International Symposium on Chirality (ISCD) was recently held on 10–13 June in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. The Chirality 2012 Poster Award winners have now been announced and in first place was Frank Maier of the Universität Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany, with his poster entitled ‘The Stereodynamics of Tropos biphep Ligands – A Novel Three Column Approach to Directly Access Interconversion Barriers’. In second place was Priyanka Lahiri of Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, with ‘A Tale of Two Carenes: Intrinsic Optical Activity and Large-Amplitude Nuclear Displacement’ and in third place was Hili Marom of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, with ‘Chiral Distinction of the PPI Drug Omeprazole’.
Begun in 1988, the ISCD is an international forum that alternates between the United States, Europe and Asia. BioTools sponsored these awards at this year’s event.
Measuring Vitamin K1 Concentrations in Dogs with Chronic Enteropathy Using LC–MS/MS
May 14th 2025A joint study between the University of Tennessee (Knoxville, Tennessee) and the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) compared directly measured vitamin K1 (vitK1) concentrations in healthy dogs and dogs with chronic enteropathy (CE) using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS); they also investigated whether supplementation of vitK1 in dogs with CE would significantly increase vitK1 concentrations.
