The Next Wave of Hyphenated Techniques
Liquid chromatography (LC) and gas chromatography (GC) techniques hyphenated to mass spectrometry (MS) have become a popular and valuable tool in the analytical chemist's arsenal. What are the latest trends in hyphenated techniques and what benefits do they offer the chromatographer in practice? We spoke to Ian Jardine of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Massimo Santoro of PerkinElmer, and Jürgen Wendt of Leco to find out more.

HPLC familiarity with UPLC performance
For laboratories that perform routine analyses or develop methods, or simply prefer the flexibility of a multi-solvent delivery system, the only choice has been HPLC-until now. The ACQUITY UPLC H-Class system can enable your laboratory to access the productivity and chromatographic performance of UPLC® in a system that combines the flexibility of ternary or quaternary solvent blending with the simplicity of flow-through needle injections. Explore Agilent’s Clearly Better Mass Spec Solutions
Agilent mass spectrometry solutions are clearly better for good reasons. LC/MS with iFunnel technology gives the lowest detection limits. GC/MS/MS acquisition speed automatically quantifies and confirms more targets in a single method. ICP-MS High Matrix Introduction technology enables faster, easier ppt-level quantification of trace elements. Agilent MassHunter Software makes analyses faster, easier, and more productive. ViscoStar™ Differential Viscometer Detector
Wyatt Technology announces the ViscoStar™ viscometer, an on-line chromatography detector for determining specific and intrinsic viscosities. The ViscoStar has at least 2X the signal-to-noise of any product available on the market as well as a proprietary Transducer Protection System (TPS) that prevents accidental damage to sensitive transducer membranes.
This new product also includes novel features found in no other viscometer. The ViscoStar has a software-based pulse dampening correction algorithm that virtually eliminates pump pulses, and the product offers precise temperature control from 4°C to 60°C--the below ambient range of which is not available anywhere else.
The ViscoStar comes standard with 18 Bit A/D resolution, Ethernet and USB communications, and a razor-sharp LCD based user interface.
The ViscoStar is compatible with all HPLC systems.
