Explore Capabilities to Evaluate Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs) of mRNA-based Vaccines and Therapeutics

Event Overview:

mRNA-based vaccines and therapeutics requires the verification of terminal structures including 5’-terminal capping, proportion of capped mRNA species, and 3’-terminal poly A tail analysis. Another promising approach would be to leverage MS to address the limitations of next-generation sequencing (NGS) in detecting unintended or unknown modifications, along the mRNA sequence. In this webinar, we will discuss how by generating longer mRNA digest fragments, you can achieve more comprehensive coverage and site-specific modification annotations. Additionally, we will share how RNA mapping can be transformed into a multi-attribute tool that includes 5’- capping and poly A tail analyses to enhance the depth and accuracy of mRNA analysis.

Kris Morreel received his PhD at the University of Ghent (VIB department of Plant Systems Biology) in 2003 while investigating the use of quantitative genetics in plant metabolomics. As a staff scientist in the same department, he set up a plant metabolomics platform, focusing on the development of mass spectrometry (MS)-based identification approaches. Between 2016 and 2019, he was featured as a highly cited researcher by Clarivate Analytics. As a visiting professor at the University of Ghent, he joined RIC group in 2021, contributing to the set-up of a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)-based RNA mapping platform.
